Young Adults– Sunday, May 26 – We are going to Stratford park to play soccer or baseball.  Meet at Topping at 7:00, or the park at 7:30p.m.

MYF Bible Study – Tuesday evening, 7:30p.m. at the church.

Leadership Meeting – Tuesday, May 28 at 7:30p.m. in the board room.

Mom’s Group:Thursday. Drop in with your kids between 10am – 12noon. Meet in the gym and bring a small snack to share. Coffee will be provided and everyone is welcome!

Sunday Evening Service, June 2. 7:30pm. Woodlawn Chorus will be at Maple View.  This four-part acappella singing group is made up of 50 youth singers. Come out for an enjoyable evening of music!

VBS Orientation: Saturday, June 8 at 10a.m. at the church. This meeting is for everyone involved in the Maple View VBS program this summer. Please make every effort to come as this will be our only meeting prior to VBS!  Food will be provided!!

Jr. Youth Spring Refresher – June 14 from 7- 9:30 p.m. at the church. If you’re in grades 6,7 or 8, come prepared for a night of fun games, snacks, singing, and a message encouraging us to walk with Jesus! We will be inviting area churches, and also encourage our Jr. Youths to invite their friends. Let’s get the word out!

Tuesday, May 28, 7:30 PM:  “The World Comes to St. Jacobs”, a celebration of The Mennonite Story, 1406 King St. N., St. Jacobs, highlighting the work of the centre.  The evening features story teller Ray Brubacher, long time worker with Mennonite World Conference, free tours, information updates and finger food dessert.  Everyone welcome

Hidden Acres Mennonite Camp will hosts its 47th ANNUAL CHICKEN BBQ on Tuesday, June 11, from 5:30 to 8:00pm. The 7th ANNUAL PIE AUCTION will be held as well! All proceeds support the Hidden Acres ministry to children, families and individuals.  Come enjoy a delicious meal and camp-style fellowship! Take-out meals are available! Regular size $14, Small size $10. Advance tickets only, available by calling the camp @ (519) 625-8602, emailing info@hiddenacres.ca or from Brad and Jenny Brenneman.

Silver Lake Mennonite Camp Annual General MeetingAs a church of MCEC, Maple View Mennonite Church is a voting member of the Silver Lake Mennonite Camp constituency. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Please Note, due to the deaths and pending funerals of two “friends of Silver Lake”, Larry Martin (May 19) and Albert Erb (May 21), our Annual General Meeting has been reschedule to Saturday June 15, 3 pm at WK United Mennonite Church.

INFORMATION…

Menno Homes offers affordable housing for low income families. Construction of building a duplex for two large families at 146 David Street in Wellesley is now underway. Occupancy is planned for September 2013. This is an opportunity  to do mission work in our own backyard. They are in need of Skilled and unskilled labours immediately. There is a box in the foyer  today and next Sunday to donate money as well. Talk to Ron or Edna  Lebold for details.

From Missions – Last plea for team leaders for the Thunder Bay mission trip this summer. If you sense God’s call to serve Him in this way, please talk to someone on Missions committee this week. Manitoulin mission trip has been postponed until this fall.

The Maple View Missions Fund has purchased New Testaments and gospel tracts for Tailgate Gospel Ministries (Peter and Sheri Koch) to use in their evangelistic ministry.

Request for Missions Photos – Do you have recent pictures of our involvement in missions? (i.e. Thunder Bay, Manitoulin, MDS, MCC, Out of the Cold, etc). Employment Opportunity: Rockway Mennonite Collegiate (Food Services) is in need of a food server/dishwasher to finish out this school year. The shift is 2-3 hours in the middle of the day. Next Sunday, May 26 – Maple View hosts Chin Christian Church for worship from 9:45-11:00 am – with Pastor Jehu preaching and the Chin Choir singing.  There will be no Sunday School, but there will be a fellowship lunch 11:00-12:00 noon. *Everyone please bring sandwiches and cookies to share with our guests.  Also bring your own plates and cutlery.  Drinks will be provided.   Maple View is then invited to join the Chin Church for their worship service at 1:00 pm at First Hmong Mennonite Church (93 Doon Road, Kitchener – across from Rockway Mennonite Collegiate).

Cemetery Plots For Sale: Pre-purchase your cemetery plot(s) at today’s fees of $700 per plot including care and maintenance fees.  On Tuesday, May 7 between 7-9pm. The cemetery board will be at the church to complete these contracts and collect the fees.  Brochures from the government and copies of the contract and cemetery bylaws are available at the mailboxes if you wish to read them in advance. Friday, May 10, 7:30-9:00 pm – Concert by Christine Strong, Ruth Tierney, Markus Pfenning and Greg Myers at Living Water Community Christian Fellowship, featuring vocal country and pop music, with piano and guitar accompaniment.  Christine, 16, is organizing the concert to raise funds for her volunteer trip to Ghana this summer to build schools in rural communities.  Refreshments and a silent auction.  Donations gratefully accepted.
