INFORMATION…

The leadership committee has approved the purchase of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to have available at our church.  An AED can greatly increase the likelihood of survival if someone would suffer cardiac arrest.  The cost of this deivce is approximately $2000.  The funds to purchase the AED will be coming out of the operating account.  If you would like to help in the purchase of the AED you can designate your offering to the operating account or write AED on the envelope. 

Wanted: Christmas Cookie Bakers – Gospel Echoes Team is once again doing a Christmas Cookie Project. They will be handing cookies out at Central North Correctional Centre in Penetanguishene, Hamilton-Wentworth Detention Centre and Ontario Correctional Institution in Brampton.  If interested in baking cookies please give your name to Sue Lebold and you will receive further instructions on  specific requirements for cookies.  Cookies can be brought to the church on Sunday, December 15.  Your cookies will help brighten someone’s Christmas!

WANTED! “6 ADULTS” To form a “Refugee Hosting Team” to welcome a  Chin family of 3 from Malaysia to Canada with the assistance of a Hosting Team from the Chin Church in Kitchener.  Talk to Ken or Joyce Jantzi this week as a meeting with Moses Moini (MCC Refugee Program coordinator) and the Chin team will possibly take place in the next few weeks.

Help the People of the PhilippinesMCC has begun its response to Typhoon Haiyan by providing funding for immediate needs and supporting a disaster response assessment team.  Donations from individual Canadians to MCC’s Typhoon response made between Nov. 9 and Dec. 9, are eligible to be matched by the Canadian government. MSCU Church Builder Term Deposits – Thanks to the investments of our members in Mennonite Savings and Credit Union’s Church Builder term deposits last year, we have received a donation of $1,388.69 for the building fund from MSCU.  Since Church Builder term deposits were introduced in 1998, MSCU has donated over $312,000 in bonus interest to 173 churches and church-based organizations in Ontario.

Experience is not necessary nor is ability to read music. A heart of praise and a “wonder” of the season are the only qualifications. Grade 6 through to age 102 are welcome!! St James Ev. Lutheran Church, Perth East, is presenting our Christmas gift to the community. Our 18th annual “Journey To Bethlehem” will be held on Friday, November 29 and Saturday November 30. Both performances begin at 8:00 p.m. For more info see poster on bulletin board.

MCEC invites you to pray for 2 new church plants; Medahnialem Ethiopian Evangelical Church, a congregation of 30 members with leadership from Pastor Tadesse Mekuria , reaches out and preaches the gospel to the Ethiopian community in the greater Toronto area,  and also Bethel Ethiopian Evangelical Church approximately 60 members & 25-30 children worship together in Amharic, led by Pastor Mesfin Woldearegay. Elder Affirmation Vote: Both Glenn Leis and Paul Albrecht have consented to let their names stand for a second 3 year term as Elder.  Both of their ministries and gifts have been strongly affirmed by their fellow Elders and Pastor. There will be opportunity to affirm them for this ministry on a ballot this morning.

Have you filled your Operation Christmas Child shoe box yet?  There are lots of empties waiting to be filled!!  Pick them up in the foyer.  Filled boxes need to be returned to the church by Wed, Nov 20th.  Thanks for contributing!

Pencils for Haiti:  the junior Sunday school students are collecting unused pencils for Heart of Compassion Ministries in Haiti. One of their projects is building and supporting schools for the poorest in Haiti who live in the mountains and cannot afford an education without assistance.  Brian and Cindy Jantzi are planning to visit Haiti in January to deliver the pencils that we collect.  For more on Heart of Compassion Ministries visit their website at www.hoc-haiti.org.  Everyone can bring pencils and give them to a Junior Sunday school student to add to the box.  Thanks for supporting this!

THIS WEEK…

The Junior Sunday school Christmas program practices will begin starting this morning during the assembly time.  Kids, please get your parents to bring you by 9:40 am so that we can begin the practices with everyone at 9:45 sharp.  Thanks!

Today is “Count Me In” Sunday which will be held during the Sunday School hour. Preschool, Junior and Senior kindergarten children are to meet in their classrooms.  Someone will be there to look after these children. Grades 1 to 8 meet in the Maple Room. Everyone else meet promptly in the Sanctuary.  Worship celebration with communion and foot washing will begin at 10:30.

Tuesday, come join us for Sewing Circle.  Speaker, Brenda Gerber from New Hamburg, injured as a child in a farm accident.  Song leader, Patty Albrecht.  Planned Fellowship Meal, please bring mugs, plates and cutlery.

Maple View CHRISTMAS CHOIR will present a mini-cantata Sunday morning, December 22. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings, 7:30-9:30 pm, November 28, December 5, 12, and 19. If you like to sing please come out! Experience is not necessary nor is ability to read music. A heart of praise and a “wonder” of the season are the only qualifications. Elder Affirmation Vote: Both Glenn Leis and Paul Albrecht have consented to let their names stand for a second 3 year term as Elder.  Both of their ministries and gifts have been strongly affirmed by their fellow Elders and Pastor. There will be opportunity to affirm them for this ministry on a ballot on Sunday November 17, 2013. You may contact Ross Gerber or James Jantzi in the next two weeks to cast your ballot if you cannot attend on Nov 17th.

Pencils for Haiti:  the junior Sunday school students are collecting unused pencils for Heart of Compassion Ministries in Haiti. One of their projects is building and supporting schools for the poorest in Haiti who live in the mountains and cannot afford an education without assistance.  Brian and Cindy Jantzi are planning to visit Haiti in January to deliver the pencils that we collect.  For more on Heart of Compassion Ministries visit their website at www.hoc-haiti.org.  Everyone can bring pencils and give them to a Junior Sunday school student to add to the box.  Thanks for supporting this!  Hygiene Kits for Haiti – Pick up a zip lock bag (list enclosed) in the lobby after church, fill and return by the end of November.  Kits will be going to Haiti with Brian, Cindy & their family.  Thanks for being a part of this valuable experience.
