LOOKING AHEAD…

Sunday October 6th, 7:30pm – The team from the Statin Island Mission trip will be sharing some of their experiences from their trip last May. Come out to hear about their interesting experiences.

*NEW* Blended Praise Team:  If you signed up to be part of this “special occasion” team, rehearsals are Tuesday Oct. 1 & 8 7:30-9:30 pm. SPECIAL INVITATION to other musicians wanting to be a part of a team. Please let Tania Leis know if interested in joining this one. Particularly we are looking for other instruments e.g. flute, violin, trumpet, sax, clarinet etc…. Please talk to Tania ASAP if you haven’t already so you can receive your music package and begin working on songs… 519-595-7700 tania.leis@icloud.com  It is possible to be in both the new praise team and the choir/ensemble.

CHOIR MEMBERS:  There will not be a large Christmas presentation this year. However, periodically throughout the year we are looking for a choir/ensemble to sing 1-2 songs at certain services. The first is Thanksgiving, Oct. 13 and then Christmas Sunday, Dec. 22. Though we all need love and respect equally, the felt need differs during conflict, and this difference is as different as pink is from blue. Married couples and singles are all welcome to attend. Chicken BBQ Fundraiser – Please sign the sheets in the foyer to bring food for our annual fundraiser on Saturday.  If you can bring two items, that would be great too.  Also looking for waiters and dishwashers.  Make sure to bring your food to the kitchen by 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.  Thank you everyone for making this fundraiser such a success!!

Interested in joining the Mentorship Program at Maple View?  If you are grade 7-12 and would like to join up with an adult mentor the time is now!  Nikki Leis and Amanda Roes will be visiting your Sunday School classes to outline the program.  Please speak to one of them if you have any questions.

Interested in being part of a weekend mission trip to Manitoulin Island this fall?  Whether you are drawn to children’s ministry, co-leading a women’s mini-retreat, helping First Nations people with jobs around their homes or have other creative ideas for sharing God’s love, please talk to Paul and Bernice Albrecht or another member of the Missions Committee.  The committee expects to shape the trip based on the gifts and vision of the team that is going.

MYF – Friday September 27 –we will be pricing pies for the ABC festival. Be at the church by 7:30 and please bring a cooler. *Families with one youth make 4 pies, families with 2 or more youth make 6.

The New Hamburg Thrift Centre is now collecting school kit items for Mennonite Central Committee.  School kits are MCC’s most-requested item. Notebooks and pencils become treasures to families who struggle to afford basic school supplies. School kits are also given to refugee and displaced children, helping students and teachers add some normalcy to disrupted lives. They are frequently requested after natural disasters. MCC sends school kits to places including Iraq, Nicaragua, North Korea and to poorly funded schools in Canada and the United States. Donors need not purchase a full kit. Individual items may be brought to the New Hamburg Thrift Centre and kits will be made up. See poster on bulletin board in the foyer for the list of school kit items needed.

LOOKING AHEAD…

Next Sunday, September 15 – Teen Challenge Choir is at Maple View during morning worship sharing songs and stories about the power of Jesus Christ to bring freedom from addiction.  Invite a friend! There will be a potluck after the service and there will also be an additional offering for Teen Challenge at the end of the service.

Maple View Praise TeamsMaple View’s praise and worship practices will begin on September 17 at 7:30 in the sanctuary. These practices will be on the third Tuesday of every month. If you are a current musician or would like to join a praise team, your ongoing participation is strongly encouraged! We will spend time in devotion, prayer, go over tips and techniques as well as practice both familiar and new songs. Notebooks and pencils become treasures to families who struggle to afford basic school supplies. School kits are also given to refugee and displaced children, helping students and teachers add some normalcy to disrupted lives. They are frequently requested after natural disasters. LOOKING AHEAD…

Sunday, September 15 – Teen Challenge Choir is at Maple View during morning worship sharing songs and stories about the power of Jesus Christ to bring freedom from addiction.  Invite a friend! There will be a potluck after the service and there will also be an additional offering for Teen Challenge at the end of the service.

Sunday, September 15, 1:00 pm – Pastor Brent speaks at the Chin Christian Church’s Spiritual Renewal Sunday.  All are welcome.  The Chin church meets at First Hmong Mennonite Church (93 Doon Road, Kitchener).

Maple View Praise Teams – Maple View’s praise and worship practices will begin on September 17 at 7:30 in the sanctuary. These practices will be on the third Tuesday of every month. If you are a current musician or would like to join a praise team, your ongoing participation is strongly encouraged! We will spend time in devotion, prayer, go over tips and techniques as well as practice both familiar and new songs. If you have questions, please talk to Tania Leis, Pamela Wideman or Jordan Jantzi.

October 5, 2013 – Annual Chicken BBQ Building Fundraiser.  Tickets will be in circulation shortly!  Please invite your family and friends to this well attended event. Take out available. Cost by donation the night of the BBQ.  Deadline to hand out tickets Fri. Sept 27.

Maple View Mennonite Church is hosting a LOVE & RESPECT VIDEO CONFERENCE on November 8 & 9. Love best motivates a woman and respect most powerfully motivates a man. Though we all need love and respect equally, the felt need differs during conflict, and this difference is as different as pink is from blue. Married couples and singles are all welcome to attend. Wellesley Blood Donor Clinic held at the Wellesley Community Center, Friday September 6 from 3-8 p.m.

Monday Sept. 9, 7:00 p.m. – Ladies Coffee Break at Milverton Mennonite Fellowship.  The focus for the evening is on MCC.  Come hear Kaitlyn Jantzi, a MCC Worker just recently returned from South Sudan, share her story.  The Special Feature is a Fashion Show showcasing the merchandise from the MCC “New to You” Thrift Store, Milverton.  Bring a friend and enjoy a fun evening out and a dessert lunch!  Suggested donation: $5.

English Classes for Low German women, begin on Thurs. Sept. 12th, for a 12 week program at Poole Mennonite Church.  There is a need for Volunteer Drivers to pick up and then again to drop off some women and their children.
