Join Conrad Grebel friends and alumni for An Evening with Bruce Cockburn, a musician and social activist who has inspired many generations of Grebel students and alumni. The leadership committee has approved the purchase of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to have available at our church.  An AED can greatly increase the likelihood of survival if someone would suffer cardiac arrest.  The cost of this deivce is approximately $2000.  The funds to purchase the AED will be coming out of the operating account.  If you would like to help in the purchase of the AED you can designate your offering to the operating account or write AED on the envelope.

Maple View CHRISTMAS CHOIR will present a mini-cantata Sunday morning, December 22. Rehearsals are;  Monday December 16, 8 pm and Thursday evening December 19, 7:30 pm  at Country Meadows in Brunner.

Christmas can be a painful time for some.  It may be the first Christmas without loved family members who have recently died.  It may be a time that has always been difficult.  For those reasons Wellesley Mennonite Church and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church are offering a community Longest Night, Blue Christmas Service” on Saturday December 21st at 7:00 p.m. at Wellesley Mennonite Church, 157 David St. in Wellesley.  Everyone is welcome.

The ESL program at Poole Church.  “Several of your church members have been helping with the Low German ESL program at Poole Church, in many various roles. Each is an important role for the program to operate. I want to thank the various individuals for their support and time invested. I also ask that your church continues to support in prayer and to consider volunteering: assisting within the program when it starts again for the 12 wk. classes in February 2014. THIS WEEK…

Tonight, 7:30pm. Annual Christmas carol sing.  This year we will also have a drama presentation and have invited the community. Please bring cookies for a time of fellowship following the service.

Christmas Cookie Bake – Wednesday, 9:30am – Noon.  Bring along your favourite cookie/square recipe (doubled) and ingredients to the church at 9:30am. We will share the squares/cookies among everyone to take home. Enjoy some fellowship and leave with a head-start on your Christmas baking. Bring a bag lunch for noon. Everyone is welcome!

Jr. Youth Christmas Event- Saturday December 14, Meet at Country Meadows in Brunner at 6:30 p.m.  Pick up at church at 10 p.m.  Please bring a $5 “fun” gift to exchange, a toonie and a topping for tacos (suggestions: diced tomatoes, sour cream, grated cheese, lettuce)…meat & shells provided.  Any questions talk to Becky or Ruth.

SOSA (single or single again)  will be meeting Fri. Dec. 13 to view the “Wonder of Winter” at Waterloo Park. We will meet at Steinmann’s Church @  6:30 for those in the area that would like to carpool, and 7:00 at the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery parking lot- 25 Caroline St. N, Waterloo. Help the People of the PhilippinesMCC has begun its response to Typhoon Haiyan by providing funding for immediate needs and supporting a disaster response assessment team.  Donations from individual Canadians to MCC’s Typhoon response made between Nov. 9 and Dec. 9, are eligible to be matched by the Canadian government. Mennonite Disaster Service seeking volunteers for rebuilding in High River, AB.  Come and help rebuild High River!  MDS is scheduling weekly groups (Tuesday to Saturday work weeks) beginning January 2014 for work in High River.  Please call Chantel Runtz in the Winnipeg office to book.  Volunteers are also still needed in Staten Island, NYC and other locations. WANTED! “6 ADULTS” To form a “Refugee Hosting Team” to welcome a  Chin family of 3 from Malaysia to Canada with the assistance of a Hosting Team from the Chin Church in Kitchener.  Talk to Ken or Joyce Jantzi this week as a meeting with Moses Moini (MCC Refugee Program coordinator) and the Chin team will possibly take place in the next few weeks.
