On Friday, September 6th at 7:30, “The Singing Trucker”, Crist Nissley will be at Mapleview.  Crist Nissley is a bluegrass/country musician from Leola, Pa. who enjoys singing for the Lord.

Sunday, September 15 – Teen Challenge Choir is at Maple View during morning worship sharing songs and stories about the power of Jesus Christ to bring freedom from addiction.  Invite a friend! There will be a potluck after the service and there will also be an additional offering for Teen Challenge at the end of the service.

Sunday, September 15, 1:00 pm – Pastor Brent speaks at the Chin Christian Church’s Spiritual Renewal Sunday.  All are welcome.  The Chin church meets at First Hmong Mennonite Church (93 Doon Road, Kitchener).

Maple View Praise TeamsMaple View’s praise and worship practices will begin on September 17 at 7:30 in the sanctuary. These practices will be on the third Tuesday of every month. If you are a current musician or would like to join a praise team, your ongoing participation is strongly encouraged! We will spend time in devotion, prayer, go over tips and techniques as well as practice both familiar and new songs. If you have questions, please talk to Tania Leis, Pamela Wideman or Jordan Jantzi.

Maple View Mennonite Church is hosting a LOVE & RESPECT VIDEO CONFERENCE on November 8 & 9. Love best motivates a woman and respect most powerfully motivates a man. Though we all need love and respect equally, the felt need differs during conflict, and this difference is as different as pink is from blue. Married couples and singles are all welcome to attend. Register online HERE or in the foyer before Oct. 28th for the early bird price of $15/person (includes workbook and lunch).

Hidden Acres Mennonite Camp’s Fall Seniors’ Retreat days are being held on September 30th and October 1st (the same program will be offered both days). Sue Steiner will sharing about the theme “Telling Our Stories.” Through photos and stories Sue will highlight what and how we can all share stories from our “ordinary” lives. Join us for a day of worship, learning and fellowship. Tonight 6:00 pm, Mentorship potluck & campfire for anyone involved in the our Mentorship Program.  Held at Scott & Amanda Roes’ house, please bring lawnchair and main course or dessert.

A Taste of Translation Training: A Dessert Evening with Randy and Anita. Tuesday August 20 in the Maple Room.  Dessert at 7:00 p.m. Program begins at 7:30 p.m. Experience a fun, interactive evening with the Lebolds who train students for translation work among the languages of the world.

  • Enjoy interactive games
  • Get a taste of linguistics and Bible translation
  • Learn about Randy & Anita’s unique role, the impact of their work, and how you can partner with them.

Mom’s Group will be meeting at the Wellesley Park, Thursday at 10am. Pack a picnic lunch and swimsuits for the splash pad. In the case of rain, meet at the church. All ladies are welcome!

Young Adults – Saturday August 24 – Scavenger Hunt and party at Krista Jantzi’s house.  The scavenger hunt begins at 7:30p.m.

When: Friday, August 16, 12:45- 9:30 Where: Ontario Mennonite Music Camp at Conrad Grebel University College Who: Campers, ages 11-15 are invited to join us for a day of music camp. Why: To get a taste of all the fun things we do at Ontario Mennonite Music Camp. Looking for teacher nominations, volunteers, input, including “exploring” teaching or shorter term engagements e.g.”snowbird season”. Please return to Murray Bender, Wayne Nafziger or Jonathan Koch by next Sunday August 4th.

One-on-one male respite worker for a thirteen year old male with Aspergers Syndrome is needed a few hours a week for “hanging out” in informal social situations (e.g. driving range, ball games, going for burgers, visiting John Deere dealers etc.)  A small financial recompense is available. Contact Brent Kipfer for further information.

ALBERTA FLOODS:  Mennonite Disaster Service is grateful for nearly 300 volunteers who have helped in the cleanup of Southern Alberta communities.  We have now closed our clean up base in High River and have moved into the planning phase for a long term project.   Depending on local town decisions, the preliminary forecast is to open a long term rebuilding base in High River in mid fall. We invite prayers for the thousands of people affected by the flood, and for wisdom as we seek to collaborate with local communities in their recovery. We will need many volunteers to show support and solidarity with the people of Alberta.  Donations can be sent to the Winnipeg office 6A-1325 Markham Rd, Winnipeg, MB R3T 4J6

The Hidden Acres Bowlathon was held on Saturday, March 2 with 23 churches represented. This year’s total raised was an outstanding $28,660! This is the highest amount EVER raised (outdoing last year’s record by $708)! Thank you to all of the bowlers and those who supported them. The funds raised by  the Bowlathon this year went towards safety upgrades for the climbing wall, picnic tables, cement steps and a sidewalk from the Woodhouse parking lot to the red staff house basement, re-building “The Cave”,  and work on the apartment and meeting room in the red house basement. Thank you for your support!

Stratford House of Blessing: Our FOOD need this month is: Family Size Fruit Juice, Fruit, and Cereal. Our VOLUNTEER need this month is: Anyone who has a heart for this ministry and our community, we need you. We currently need sorters, drivers for a cube truck, pick ups and deliveries, fill-ins for food bank, etc. Come be a part of the change you want to see!
